Funding Finds Cures

Help Fund the Next Breakthrough in Pediatric Cancer Research.

For the past nine years, Kate Amato Foundation has been dedicated to funding innovative pediatric cancer research that leads to safer, more effective treatments for children. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, KAF reached a major milestone in December 2025, surpassing $1 million in total funding for pediatric cancer research since the Foundation's inception.

Now, we're building on that momentum through Funding Finds Cures, our year-end giving campaign with a goal of raising $100,000 by December 31, 2026, to fund two promising pediatric cancer research projects.

Every dollar invested in research brings us one step closer to new discoveries, better treatment options and improved outcomes for children and families affected by cancer.

A Proven Impact

Since its founding, KAF has funded groundbreaking research at leading institutions across the country, including Duke University, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, and more.

Those investments are already making a difference. You can see the many grant awards that have been funded here, but the latest accolades are:

  • KAF funded two consecutive research projects led by Dr. Pati, contributing to the development of a safer treatment for Ewing sarcoma.
  • KAF supported a portion of the groundbreaking cancer vaccine research at the University of Florida that garnered national attention and continues to advance innovative approaches to cancer treatment.

These successes demonstrate the power of philanthropy to accelerate research and bring hope to children and families facing childhood cancer.

Why This Matters

Every year, thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer, yet pediatric cancer research remains significantly underfunded.

  • For many childhood cancers, we are using the same treatments that were developed in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
  • Only 4% of federal cancer research funding is dedicated to pediatric cancers.
  • The pharmaceutical industry invests less than 0.1% of its annual research and development budget to pediatric cancers.

Children deserve better treatment options, better outcomes and a brighter future. Research makes that possible.

Our Goal: $100,000. Two Research Projects. Endless Possibilities.

By supporting Funding Finds Cures, you can help fund the next generation of pediatric cancer research that brings hope to children and families who need it most.

Together, we can help turn promising ideas into life-saving discoveries.
